RESTORING VOICES. EMPOWERING LIVES.

Support for those struggling to navigate through life’s challenges.

Do you feel disconnected from yourself or uncertain about your purpose?

It’s easy to lose sight of who we are when life’s seasons change. I believe we each have the power to shape our own story as we move from one chapter to the next.

I would be honored to help you write the next chapter of your journey, offering help with areas in:

Coping Skills

Together, we can develop personalized coping skills tailored to your needs. Improved coping skills can help reduce stress while increasing your resiliency. Replacing maladaptive coping skills can improve your self-esteem, making reaching your goals more attainable. Enhance your relationships with a better you!

Depression

Depression is a common struggle for many people. When left unmanaged, it can be debilitating and cause you to feel hopeless about your future. Feelings of low self-esteem feed into being helpless to change your path. The good news is that depression can be managed. While it is quite common, there is no cookie cutter approach to managing your depression. With self-care and a few lifestyle changes, let’s find the right approach for you.

Domestic Violence

Domestic Violence can present many ways. Domestic violence, also known as intimate partner violence, is about power and control. It is not about your partner’s inability to manage their anger or “lose control.” Quite the opposite. Domestic violence is a calculated attempt to gain control over you through the guise of anger and manipulation. Domestic violence comes in many forms and is not always broken bones and bruises. Identifying the several types of abuse and the cycle of violence will help with recognizing those red flags. Trying to heal from violence starts with rebuilding your self-esteem. Let’s explore this healing path together.

Life Transitions

Life can throw you a curve ball. Divorce, death, and “empty nesting” can all feel like loss and grief. Life transitions, such as changing jobs, loss of income, and facing the life challenges brought on by aging can cause you to question your purpose in life and make you wonder if you have lived up to your full potential. Let’s talk. I want to help you recognize the wonderful things that await in this new chapter of yours! Your story is not over.

Sexual Abuse

One in four women and one in six men have experienced some form of sexual abuse in their life. Sexual abuse is often perpetrated by someone you know, love and trust. Because of this, a person’s sense of trust and ability to have healthy relationships can be impaired. Let me assure you that this is not your fault. No actions of yours, bad decisions you made, or piece of clothing you wore caused this. I cannot make this go away. I can, however, help you find the beautiful piece of you that got lost in the trauma. You do not have to do this alone.

Stress Management

Life can be overwhelming. Sometimes you might feel like a hamster caught in a wheel…constantly running but never getting anywhere. Together, we can explore a few options, such as self-care and relaxation techniques. With a little bit of collaboration and some positive changes, we can find a set of healthier life patterns that will allow you to develop better time management and reduce your reactions to life stressors.

Trauma Recovery

Sometimes old trauma might resurface during happier occasions. Sometimes old trauma might resurface during life altering occasions…. good or bad. The brain is not always able to differentiate between strong emotions from the past or from today. Trauma can put barriers on behaviors that would otherwise allow you to excel and live a full life. Trauma can also manifest into somatic symptoms such as headaches, upset stomach and overall body pain. Your trauma is unique to you and cannot be compared to another person’s trauma. Let’s work together to find those triggers and develop a plan to overcome and thrive.

Anxiety Management

Life stressors can cause debilitating anxiety. Being mindful and accepting your anxiety is part of the journey. Once you can identify anxiety inducing triggers, we will develop a plan to manage them. With a few lifestyle changes, engaging in mindfulness, and developing a carefully constructed schedule, you will develop a better sense of control over your time, your energy, and your anxiety.

Jennifer McDaniel

Clinical Social Work Candidate, MSW, SWC

I have nearly 20 years of experience working with individuals and families, specializing in advocacy for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

My journey began in 2006, shortly after obtaining my BSW, where I focused on supporting survivors of domestic violence. In time, I transitioned into working with survivors of sexual violence; to include supervising and staffing a rape crisis line in Greeley, CO.

Although I specialize in working with those who have experienced sexual assault and intimate partner violence, I also have experience working with victims of crime and those who have general mental health concerns.

I have spent time as a volunteer victim advocate with law enforcement in northeast Colorado and have spent the past six years working in community mental health. In 2018, I founded Caring Hearts Advocacy and Consulting, LLC, where I continue to ensure that victims’ voices are heard and supported throughout their healing journey. I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Grand Canyon University.

My life’s passion continues to be one of support for clients struggling with mental health crises, advocating for those that may have “lost their voice”, and educating the community; and I remain dedicated to empowering survivors and helping them reclaim their lives.
